Red Flag Warning Issued for Southwest Iowa Due to High Fire Risk

A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 am this morning to 7 pm this evening for wind and low relative humidity for eastern Nebraska and Southwest Iowa.
The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 10 am this morning to 7 pm, this evening. The fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. Iowa counties include Shelby, Harrison, Pottawattamie, Mills, Montgomery, Fremont and Page counties. Southwest wind of 10 to 20 mph gusting up to 35 mph are possible with relative humidity as low as 11 percent. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
