GREENFIELD, Iowa — Adair County Memorial Hospital has officially reopened as of Monday, November 11.
Nearly six months have passed since the EF4 tornado struck Greenfield, causing significant damage to the hospital and claiming the lives of four residents. Over 150 homes were also affected by the powerful storm.
The tornado caused extensive damage to key areas of the hospital, including the laboratory and emergency room. In the immediate aftermath, the hospital provided some services out of Nodaway Valley Elementary School and collaborated with nearby county hospitals to manage emergency care.
The hospital began a phased reopening in August and, as of Monday, has fully resumed its operations, offering all services once again.
