Water Leak Disrupts Service to Several Denison Businesses; Repairs Underway
Denison, IA – November 7, 2024 – Denison Municipal Utilities responded to a water leak at approximately 8:00 PM on the evening of November 7, 2024, near UBI. The leak was identified as occurring on an 8-inch main, and the utility team was able to isolate the affected section overnight. Repairs are currently underway, with full restoration of service expected once the work is completed.
The following businesses have been affected by the water outage and will remain without water service until the leak is fully repaired:
- Cobalt Credit Union
- Ameriprise Financial
- Denison Bulletin & Review
- Beyond Behavior Autism Services
Denison Municipal Utilities emphasized that this leak is unrelated to the recent upgrades to the city's water tower. The area of the leak was not in the benefitted zone that received enhanced water pressure from the new tower, distinguishing it from previous main breaks since the tower's activation.
Traffic in the area surrounding the repair site will be impacted, and the public is asked to avoid the block while crews work to resolve the issue. The utility department expressed gratitude for the dedication of its employees who are working on the repair and urged affected residents and businesses to remain patient as the issue is addressed.
Further updates will be provided as necessary.
