Smoke Machine Triggers Fire Alarm at Denison High School, No Fire Found
Denison, IA – November 7, 2024 – On the evening of November 7, 2024, at approximately 8:58 p.m., the Denison Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation at Denison High School, located on North 16th Street. The alarm originated in the school’s auditorium area.
Upon arrival, fire department personnel were able to quickly access the building and assess the situation. A smoke machine, equipped with a black flex hose designed to channel smoke effects onto the stage, was being used by students in an ongoing theatrical production. After a thorough check, it was confirmed that the smoke machine was the source of the alarm activation, and there was no actual fire.
The situation was resolved swiftly, and the department was cleared to return to the station.
