Driver killed in Sac County rollover crash
(SAC COUNTY, IOWA)- The Sac County Sheriff’s Office, Odebolt Fire Rescue, and Sac County EMS
responded to a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning October 12, 2024, at 5:30 AM. The
accident location was north of 360 th (D-59) and on Cory Ave. When responders arrived, they found a 2025 Volvo semi-tractor in a field off the west ditch. The semi-tractor had rolled. Inside the semi-
tractor, they found Bryan Jeff Pubien age 29 from Omaha, NE. Pubien was pronounced dead at the
scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Pubien was traveling north on Cory Ave, where he crossed 360th Street and lost control on the gravel road. Cory Ave is a paved road south of 360 th Street and turns to gravel on the north side of the intersection. He entered the west ditch where the semi-tractor rolled several times before coming to rest on the passenger side in a picked cornfield. Pubien was not wearing a seatbelt and was pinned inside the cab. Odebolt Fire Rescue used mechanical means to extricate Pubien. GPS data obtained from the semi-tractor shows that the accident occurred at 2:37 AM. Pubien has been transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny, Iowa for autopsy.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
