5-Year-Old Rushed To Hospital After Incident At Avoca Aquatic Center

Officials with the Avoca Hancock Shelby Tennant Walnut School District released a statement on Saturday, June 17th, about an incident involving a five-year-old child, that took place on Friday, June 16th at the swimming pool in Avoca. Dispatch reports at the time indicate the incident was related to a drowning, and that CPR was in progress. The District said, “On Friday afternoon there was an emergency at the Avoca Swimming Pool involving an AHSTW TK student. Currently, the student is receiving medical care at the hospital. At this time, AHSTW Community School District will be providing support and counseling to anyone [child or adult] who may have witnessed or been affected by this event. AHSTW Community School District, AEA Counselors, and community support groups will be available at the Viking Excel/AEA Building on Monday, June 19th, and Tuesday, June 20th, between the hours of 3 and 7 pm to meet with anyone who would like to visit. We ask that you please park in the lower parking lot between the hours of 3 and 5 pm.
