Boys Tennis: Monarchs open up season with loss to Bishop Heelan
On Monday, the spring sports season commenced with the Denison-Schleswig boys tennis team traveling to Sioux City to take on Bishop Heelan.
Against a tough opponent to start off the year, the Monarchs fall 9-0 in the varsity matchups, while JV fell 3-6. Winners in the JV side included Tyson Stoppel in singles action and doubles wins from Totten/Bygness & Baker/Palmer.
Coaches comments from Aaron Ratliff:
"Heelan has an excellent team with two superstars playing at 1 and 2 and 4 experienced seniors in the other positions. It is not fun starting the year off with a bagel, but we will get better as the season progresses as we gain more experience for our young squad."
Monarchs fall to 0-1 on the year and are in action for their home opener on April 4th against Shenandoah.
