Ida Grove Woman Found Guilty in Death of 3-Year-Old Son

An Ida Grove woman has been found guilty in the death of her three-year-old son following a bench trial held Friday. According to Ida County District Court records, 24-year-old Billie Rose Mosier was convicted of one count of child endangerment resulting in death, a Class B felony.

The case stems from a May 2023 incident in which emergency responders were called to the 500 block of Maple Street in Battle Creek for reports of an unresponsive child. The boy was initially taken to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove before being transferred to Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, where he died the following day from his injuries.

An investigation conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Ida County Sheriff’s Office, and the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner determined that Mosier’s actions directly contributed to her son's death.

Mosier is scheduled to be sentenced on May 5 and faces up to 25 years in prison.
