Governor Reynolds Issues Disaster Proclamation Following Late June Derecho

In response to the severe storm that occurred Thursday, June 29th, Governor Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Jefferson, Lee, and Wapello counties. The storm has been classified as a derecho. As a result of the governor's proclamation, two grant programs will be activated. For households with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level, the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant provides up to $5,000. There is money available for home or car repairs, food and clothing replacement, and short-term housing costs. Residents have 45 days from the date of the announcement to submit an application, and homeowners seeking reimbursement for storm-related home repairs must send in original receipts. The Disaster Case Advocacy Program helps homeowners coordinate services and resources to tackle disaster-related needs, create a recovery plan, and access resources. There are no income eligibility requirements for this program. Access to the program closes 180 days from the date of the proclamation.
