A Texas man, Michael Thomas Lewis, 55, allegedly sent sexually violent messages to WNBA star Caitlin Clark via his X account before traveling to Indianapolis, according to court documents. Lewis, from Denton, Texas, is facing charges of stalking and making threats of sexual violence and death, a Level 5 felony. He was arrested on Sunday.

Court records show that the FBI traced his messages to Indianapolis, raising concerns due to their graphic nature. Lewis also mentioned attending Clark’s games, including away games. Clark reported feeling unsafe and even altered her appearance when out in public.

When questioned by police, Lewis downplayed the severity of his actions, claiming his messages were just a "joke" or "fantasy." Despite his defense, prosecutors emphasize that his online harassment escalated to real threats of physical harm. If convicted, Lewis could face up to six years in prison.
