NW Iowa man burned in a house fire

(ODEBOLT, IOWA) On July 3, 2024 around 0910 hours a resident of 1651 370th Street in Odebolt called the Sac County Communications Center advising that his house was on fire and he was still in the residence. The first responding deputy observed a foot sticking out of a sliding door on the south side of the residence. The responding deputy made contact with the male resident and assisted the male to get up and out of the residence before Odebolt Fire Department arrived on scene. The male had burn injuries on the top portion of his body.
Members from Odebolt, Wall Lake, Lake View, and Kiron Fire Departments responded to the residence fire. The male was medically stabilized by members of Odebolt, Lake View, and Sac County Emergency Services. Arrangements were made to shut down Highway 39 at 370th Street to provide a landing zone for a MercyOne Helicopter. The male was transported by ambulance to the landing zone before boarding the helicopter for departure to a burn center.
At the request of the Odebolt Fire Department, the State Fire Marshal's Office was contacted to assist with determination of the fire's origin. The condition of the 60-year-old male resident is unknown at this time.
