Governor Kim Reynolds Signed Senate File 542 Into Law

The bill allows 16 and 17-year-olds to serve alcohol in restaurants with a parent's permission. It allows teens to work in some currently prohibited jobs as part of a work-based educational program. It also permits teens as young as 14 to work up to six hours a day during the school year and to work longer into the night. Labor unions protested the passage of the bill, and the federal Department of Labor criticized the bill, stating it contradicts federal law.
