Two Vehicle Accident Leaves One Man Dead and Another Seriously Injured
Iowa State Patrol reported a 59-year-old Denison man died in a crash last Friday, April 28th. The crash report from the Iowa State Patrol stated the crash happened on L51 and 297th Street In Ida County around 7:30 A.M., on Friday, April 28th. A truck driven by Colton Clausen of Schleswig crossed the center line and collided with a sedan driven by Russell Mefferd of Denison. The truck Clausen was driving rolled over and landed on its wheels before coming to a stop. The sedan Mefferd was driving spun around and came to a stop in the west ditch off L51.
According to Iowa State Patrol, Mefferd was pronounced dead at the scene and Clausen was taken to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove to be treated for injuries. Mefferd was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Clausen was not wearing his seat belt. Clausen was seriously injured, and the accident remains under investigation.
