Denison City Council Finalizes Settlement Payment, Welcomes New Police Officers
The Denison City Council carried a motion to pay the city's portion of last week's lawsuit settlement agreement during their first regular meeting of June.
The council moved to pay the $40,000 using funds from the administrative legal budget. The group reached the resolution last week regarding the defamation lawsuit filed by Denison City Clerk Lisa Koch and City Manager/City Engineer Terry Crawford against former Mayor Jared Beymer and Councilman Corey Curnyn. The rest of the council carried the motion as Curnyn chose to abstain from Tuesday night's vote.
The Denison Police Department's most recent hires took their oath of office as well. Mayor Pam Soseman swore Tristan Winey and James Kraijicek into their police officer positions.
The council approved a resolution awarding the contract for the FEMA river embankment project. They also appointed Judy Thams to replace Gordon Weibers on the Board of Adjustment. The council tabled a motion that would accept a quote for kitchen updates at the Denison Fire Department.
