Drake Relays director Blake Boldon on the return of Sioux City native Shelby Houlihan

Sioux City native Shelby Houlihan will return to the Drake Relays for the first time since 2017 when she competes in the Grand Blue Mile and women's mile in the stadium later this month. The American record holder in the 15-hundred and 12-time U-S champion is coming off a four-year doping ban she blamed on a tainted burrito. In her first race back, she won silver in the three thousand meter run at the World Indoor Championships in China. Drake Relays director Blake Boldon says Houlihan threatened the American record in China.  Houlihan last competed at Drake in 2019 when she doubled as the 15 hundred-meter and five thousand-meter champ at the U-S Outdoor Championships.
