Iowa baseball opens B1G series at Michigan Friday night

Pitching and defense have been key as the Iowa Hawkeye baseball team takes a 14-4 Big Ten record into Friday night's start of a three-game series at Michigan. The pitching staff has a league low 3.48 earned run average, and the Hawkeyes have given up a Big Ten low 65 runs. Iowa coach Rick Heller says those numbers have helped the Hawkeyes win all six of their Big Ten series so far this season. Michigan is 8-7 in the Big Ten and took two of three from the Hawkeyes last year in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are coming off a series in which they won two of three games against Nebraska.
