Team Results from 2025 State Bowling Meet

The Monarch boys had a slow start to the afternoon with their first baker set. They bowled games of 202, 179, 200, 182, and 192. They were in 7th place going in to the second set of bakers. The continued to bowl under what they would normally shoot. It seems like they couldn’t catch a break or string their strikes together. They came through on the fourth game and were finally able to put something together. They bowled games of 184, 176, 185, 230, and 181. Going into the last set of bakers they were in 7th place behind Burlington by 58 pins. The last set was by far their best set. They bowled games of 198, 214, 177, 200, and 225. They finished as the 6th seed with a score of 2925. 

After the break the boys went up against Burlington. They won their first game 178 to 167. The second Denison shot a 180, better that their first, but Burlington was able to get a few more spares. The third game Burlington won 189 to 152. The fourth game, Burlington won 180 to 159. The boys then went up against Clinton. Finally all the nerves and stress of the day was gone. The boys were able to end on a good note and throw 3 really good games. The first game Denison-Schleswig won 211 to 198. The second game they won again with a score of 234 to 155. The last game it came down to one pin and the boys won 224 to 223. They placed 7th in the tournament.

The girls also had a slow start to the day. We kept setting goals for ourselves and would come up short. Their first set of games were 156, 162, 177, 149, and 139. After their first set of games, the team was in 8th. Their second set of games, things started clicking for them. The pins were falling a lot easier than the first set. They bowled 148, 170, 187, 175, and 157. After the second set the girls were in 6th. The last set of games the girls were still fighting for a higher seed. They bowled games of 153, 137, 181, 142, and 164. They finished the 7th seed with a score of 2397. 

The lady Monarchs bowled against Cedar Rapids Washington for their first round of brackets. The girls were in a great mindset going into these games. They had been bowling with Cedar Rapids Washington all afternoon, so they knew what they were up against. They won the first game 188 to 178. They won the second game 176 to 126. The third game they lost 157 to 156. This didn’t get them down though as they won the fourth game 180 to 163. The next team they were up against was Lewis Central. The girls were losing steam at this point as it was now around 8:00. The girls lost their first game 183 to 155. They lost the second game 162 to 129. They lost the third game 153 to 146. The girls finished 6th in the tournament.
