Man wanted for 2022 Texas murder arrested in Iowa

Man wanted for 2022 Texas murder arrested in Iowa

A man wanted for shooting his younger brother to death in Texas over two years ago has been arrested in northwest Iowa.

Thirty-nine-year-old Kyle Andrew Coolack was arrested Sunday morning near Pomeroy by a Calhoun County deputy. A man in Pomeroy had called authorities to say he’d kicked Coolack out of his house after learning he was wanted in Texas for murder. The man told KEYC TV in Mankato, Minnesota that about a week ago he saw Coolack holding a sign that said he was a veteran looking for work and had been providing him food, housing, and work, but Coolack had just admitted he wasn’t who he said was. A Calhoun County deputy soon spotted a man walking along Highway 4, south of Pomeroy.

Coolack initially gave deputies a fake name, but later admitted to his real identity. Coolack is in the Carroll County Jail, awaiting extradition to Texas. He’s wanted on a murder charge for shooting his brother to death in a Houston apartment in March of 2022.
