Denison Police reporting trio of arrests, accidents
The Denison Police Department is reporting six incidents that happened over the weekend.
The most recent public release states that they apprehended Dustin Bigley of Denison at approximately 9:19 p.m. near North 26th Street. Police charged the 42-year-old male with his third or subsequent offense of Domestic Abuse Assault.
A separate Sunday arrest happened when an officer took Oscar Shul Aguilar of Denison into custody on an outstanding Crawford County warrant at around 9:20 a.m. near North Main Street.
Denison PD arrested Zachary Gray of Vail at about 1:39 p.m. Saturday on Highway 30 East. They booked the 40-year-old male for driving while his license is suspended.
All charges are allegations and the persons named in a case are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The most recent motor vehicle accident happened at approximately 3:18 p.m. Saturday near Highway 30 East and South 7th Street. The related document indicates that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by 32-year-old Tesfay Tsehaye of Denison was on the eastbound ramp of Highway 30 off of Highway 59 southbound. A 2005 Saturn Ion piloted by a 14-year-old Castana native was reportedly stopping at the stop sign ahead of the Impala when it struck the rear of the Saturn. The vehicle involved in the accident moved to the Pronto gas station prior to the responding officer's arrival. One of the occupants of the Saturn told police that all three of the vehicle's occupants would be going to their local chiropractor for treatment. Police cited Tsehave for following too closely but she was uninjured. The damage estimate for the Saturn is $500 with no amount listed for the Impala.
A separate Saturday accident occurred just before 1 p.m. on Highway 30 West. The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 38-year-old Justin Schaben of Dunlap was southbound in the right lane of Highway 59 crossing the middle junction of Highway 30. The 2022 Freightliner Cascadia piloted by 35-year-old Jesse Penland of Smyrna, Georgia was westbound from Highway 30 onto southbound Highway 59. Penland's semi-truck merged into the path of Schaben's pickup. This caused the right front of Schaben's Chevy to strike the approaching bridge guardrail and sustain left side damage due to the impact from the semi. The report listed no injuries. Police cited Penland for an improper lane change. The Silverado pickup is expected to cost $4,000 to fix while the damage estimate for the semi is $600.
The final reported accident took place at about 11:30 a.m. Friday near First Avenue North. The 2012 Dodge Journey driven by 81-year-old Margaret Moeller of Denison was attempting to back out of a parking stall south of the post office. The 2017 Honda Accord piloted by 31-year-old Antonio Berrones of Denison was traveling west on First. The related document indicates neither driver saw the other and Moeller's Dodge struck the passenger side of Berrones' Honda. The report listed no injuries. Police cited Moeller for unsafe entry of the roadway. The Honda will cost an estimated $5,000 to fix while repairs to the Dodge are expected to cost $1,500.
