FoodLand Supermarkets in Woodbine to be Demolished

FoodLand Supermarkets owners Dina and John Corbett announced this morning the store will be demolished. State Farm and its engineers surveyed the building extensively, and out of an abundance of caution, have made the determination that the building must be demolished and rebuilt.
They have already begun the process of desiging a new facility, with the same footprint. With the season and unpredictable weather that comes with Iowa fall and winter, they are unsure of a timeline for re-opening. The main goal right now is to get the current building removed and the concrete re-poured with anchors set before the weather prohibits the progress. If this gets accomplished, they will be able to get the building up, enclosed, and continue the interior work for the coming months.
Weather permitting, they are anticipating a spring re-opening.
