Monarch Volleyball Season Comes to an End in Carroll

The Denison-Schleswig Monarchs volleyball team season ends in heartbreaking fashion at Carroll in the 1st round of the Class 4 A Region 5 Playoffs. The first set was back and forth with the biggest lead in the set being only 4 points and the Monarchs used a late run to win the 1st set 25-21. Set 2 was a completely different story with Carroll dominating 25-7. Set 3 went back to the close game with no separation and Denison-Schleswig used another late run to win it 25-23. Heading into set 4, it continued with the close story, but Carroll was able to hold off a late run by the Monarchs to win the set 25-23 and bring us to the deciding 5th set for the 3rd straight match between these two teams. The Monarchs got out to a 9-6 lead, but it was all Carroll the rest of the way finishing on a 9-2 run to win the set 15-11 and ending the Monarchs' season. The Monarchs finish the season with a record of 13-16. Carroll improves their record to 18-17 and will play Lewis Central Thursday night in the 2nd round.
