High-Speed Pursuit and Gunfire: Suspect Arrested After Road Rage Crash in Shelby County

A 23-year-old Nebraska man is in custody following a violent road rage incident early Tuesday morning that ended in a crash and an attempted murder charge.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, deputies were alerted around 4 a.m. on April 22 to a road rage situation traveling westbound on Highway 44 from Harlan. Responding officers discovered a traffic accident along the highway, where one vehicle had veered into a ditch. The other vehicle involved had already left the scene.
The driver of the crashed vehicle was transported to Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan with injuries. Investigators later determined that the driver had been pursued and rammed by another vehicle at high speed. Authorities say the suspect also fired multiple gunshots into the victim’s vehicle during the pursuit.
The suspect was identified as Jacob Snyder, 23, of Nebraska. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of attempted murder. He was later located in Bellevue, Nebraska, and taken into custody by the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office, where he awaits extradition to Iowa.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa State Patrol, Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office, Bellevue Police Department, and Omaha Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing.
