Walnut resident turns himself in after hit and run in Denison

22 year old Andrew Henderson of Walnut was cited for Failure to maintain Control by Denison Police after a hit and run incident on New Years Eve. Tracks in the snow indicated that Henderson's 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe was headed east on 2nd Ave. South when it exited the roadway at the southeast corner of the intersection with South 11th Street, striking a tree, then striking the passenger side of a Chrysler 300 Touring, which was pushed into a 2008 Toyota Highlander. The Chrysler suffered an estimated $7000 of damage while the Highlander suffered an estimate of $5000. Henderson's vehicle damage is estimated to be $1000.

Later on New Years Evening, Henderson called the Denison Police Department to notify them he had been the driver in the hit and run and then agreed to come in the next morning for an interview with police. Henderson stated that he had pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing the wreck. He also noted that fatigue may have been a factor. Henderson also went to a house to speak with the owners of the vehicles about the accident.
