Lutheran Services in Iowa in Crucial Need of Foster Families in Crawford County
Lutheran Services in Iowa has seen a decline in available foster families in Crawford County. Dawn Luetje with LSI briefly discussed their foster services in general. “From recruitment of foster homes all the way through post-adoption services for those families that have adopted and voluntarily want on-going services to assist them through their adoption.” Regarding their adoption services, Luetje said earlier this summer they switched to a new subcontractor. “ LSI has had the contract the past 6 years for our RTS services, the foster care adoption services in Iowa and as of July 1st we have gone under a subcontract with Four Oaks Foster and Adoption Family Connections so our EMail has changed to IowaFosterandAdoption.org.” Luetje said foster and adoption families have significantly decreased in our listening area. “It’s crazy how much we’ve declined in the number of foster parents we’ve had here in Crawford County. Right now we have only four families and one of those is for relatives only. So we only have three foster homes. Obviously they all have placements or are really busy with helping out with respite care. So we desperately need more families to step up and become foster families.” Luetje said the process is quite simple when applying to become a foster family. “Go to that website, IowaFosterandAdoption.org and there's an inquiry there you just indicate you're interested in becoming a foster family.
