Kiron Community Club to host the Mini Haunted House Showdown in October with Application Deadline September 10th
The Kiron Community Club will host the Mini Haunted House Showdown on October 20th and 21st with a competition deadline to enter the contest approaching this Sunday. Jen Hoagland with the Kiron Community Club said they wanted to give a fun opportunity for the community this year to go along with the haunted trail. “This is our second year doing the haunted trail in Kiron South Park and this year we wanted to give an opportunity to the public to be able to build their own structure. We’ve got some people out there that are really into Halloween and are creative people themselves. So we wanted to give them this opportunity to join a contest and create their own mini haunted house.” Hoaglund said the teams are limited this year due to space on the trail. “We are only selecting 8 groups, 8 teams to do this because our space is limited but the haunted trail attendees will be able to vote for their favorite and the winner will be awarded 1,000 dollars.” Hoagland said the application process is underway through this Sunday. “We are in the process of accepting applications. We have an application process because we were assuming we’d have more than 8 (teams) to want to do this and we wanted to give a fair shot to the surrounding communities as well as the citizens of Kiron. To apply you can just follow us on Facebook and we have an application on our Facebook page.” Hoglan explained that it’s very flexible when it comes to what teams can build in the contest. “You can go as complicated as you want or as simple as you want. We are giving enough space: about 15 feet wide by 32 feet long.” Please note the deadline to apply to participate in the Mini Haunted House Showdown is this Sunday, September 10th.
