Funlap Comedy Festival in Dunlap September 29th and 30th
The Funlap Comedy Festival is coming back to Dunlap on September 29th and 30th. Principal organizer for the festival, Matt Weis said it’s a big weekend in Dunlap. “Well it’s a big weekend coming up. Three of the four shows will be at the Dunlap Golf Course but the Saturday night early show we’ve actually got a partnership going with the Boyer Valley School District and we’re going to host a show there; just a little bit more family friendly and we’re going to arrange for part of the ticket sales from that show to go to the speech and drama kids.” Weis, a native of the Dunlap community, discussed his background and how comedy came to be for him. “I graduated in Dunlap in 1998 and I was one of those speech and drama kids. I’d always in the back of mind wanted to be a comedian and you know life happens and I just didn’t have the guts for it at the time and so a couple decades later had some kids, got married, got divorced, went to college and after all that I thought you know what I’m not getting any younger so maybe it’s time to try that out“. Weis said there’s several shows to check out that weekend. “We’ve got four ticketed shows, if you go to funlapcomedyfestival.com there is a ticket link that has the times. Each day we’re going to have a 7pm and 9:30 show. So Friday we’ve got Dante Powell originally from Bernice, Louisiana; he’s going to be headlining that show." Weis said that Saturday will feature plenty more. “ Saturday, that early show is at the School.
