Paul Plumb is New Executive Director for Chamber and Development Council of Crawford County
Paul Plumb, a native of Kirkman, Iowa, was hired last month as the new Executive Director for Chamber and Development Council of Crawford County. Plumb said one of the attractions of the new role was the location. “We wanted to get back closer to family and friends and family that we had here and this home came up that we loved, and said why not now?” Plumb discussed why the role fits him well and why he was interested. “One of the jobs that I thought that fit my background was chamber work and I thought if anything like that ever came up that would be something I would look at seriously and apply for and seriously get after that job.” Plumb said he’s already formulating ideas in his new role at the Chamber. “I have a few ideas in the back of my head that I’m going to let the board hear about anyway and mostly right now I’m just trying to listen to the board. They know the community, they know the businesses in the area and getting direction from them on the direction we need to go moving forward.” Paul said one of his main goals is to attend to the needs of the local businesses in the area. “In order for a chamber to grow you have to be responsive to what the businesses are wanting and what they’ve been missing and we have to have our ears open to those and what they’re asking for and see how we can respond to that.” The Chamber and Development Council of Crawford County officially announced Plumb’s hiring last month on July 21st.
