The Dogs And Brats For Democrats West Iowa Summer 2023 Fundraiser will take place Tuesday, June 20th, at the Yellowsmoke Park Shelter, Highway 30 East of Denison. Larry Peterson, the County Chair of the Crawford County Democrats, said that anyone is welcome to come. “We would love to have anybody come out, and that’s just not Democrats, that’s Moderate people, interested Republicans, please come out and enjoy the dogs and brats,” Peterson said multiple counties are involved with the hosting of this fundraiser. “We have five counties working on this event, you’ve got Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Ida, and Shelby. And we’re all participating by providing different sources of foods and so on.” The grill starts at 5:30 pm, and they will be serving hot dogs and brats, but they will also have baked beans, potato chips, salads, and cupcakes available as well. Water bottles will also be available, but if you would like any sort of alcohol or soft drink, you must bring your own. The purpose of the fundraiser is to kick off the 2024 campaign to retake the Iowa Legislature. “We have a candidate to run for District 12, that is Dustin Durbin, works at the hospital, well known around the county. That’s part of the purpose, the other purpose is just to bring Democrats together and attempt to bring them out.” The grill starts at 5:30 pm, but the program starts at 7 pm and features State Democratic Chair Rita Hart, keynote speaker Senator Sarah Trone Garriott, along with other candidates and local office holders. This event is a free-will donation, but if you are looking to fundraise for any of the candidates, they will have a separate jar available at the event.
