Governor Reynolds Requests Federal Assistance After Davenport Building Partially Collapses

Governor Kim Reynolds sent a letter to President Joe Biden asking for federal help in Scott County after the partial collapse of the Hotel Davenport Apartments on Sunday, May 28th. The request for an emergency declaration for the state of Iowa includes help with debris removal, demolition, technical assistance, and reimbursement for response activities. The collapse resulted in three deaths and multiple injuries. Approximately 100 households have been displaced by the collapse and nearby structures were evacuated due to safety concerns. Currently, the cause of the collapse is unknown. This is a developing story. Stay tuned to KDSN News for more updates.
