The Family Crisis Centers Are Celebrating 10 Years Of Service In Denison
The Family Crisis Centers provide services to people in domestic violence situations and survivors of crime. Advocates support victims and survivors through crisis situations and will continue to work with them even if the crisis has been resolved. Some of the services they provide are safety planning, support at court hearings, 24-hour phone/text support, assistance with medical appointments, and much more. Victim Services Coordinator Michelle Carlson said if you or anybody you know are experiencing domestic violence or violent crime, they can reach out to 1-800-382-5603, on their website familycrisiscenters.org, or they can text “Iowahelp” to 20121. “Somebody will always be there for you,” said Carlson. For their 10 years of service in the community, they will be having a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 1st at Washington Park. A freewill donation meal will be from 4 to 7 pm. The menu will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, and water. “Proceeds from the freewill donation will go back into the community to help local victims and survivors,” said Carlson. There will be informational booths, and an opportunity to buy Polaris General raffle tickets to support Family Crisis Centers. The Crawford County Cattlemen will be grilling, and the Charter Oak 4-H Achievers will be volunteering to help with setting up and servicing the meal.
